Family, flavor, and a legacy carried forward
Family-owned and operated, Zapata is part of O Restaurant Group, founded by Jesús Oñate Jr. The group was inspired by the example of his father, Jesús Oñate Sr., who helped establish the family’s roots in Atlanta’s restaurant industry. Today, the next generation continues that legacy through authentic Mexican food, genuine hospitality, and a passion for agave spirits.
How it started
Jesús Oñate Sr. immigrated to the United States in the early 1970s and settled in Atlanta, where he built a future in the restaurant industry. His hard work paved the way for his family and many others in the industry. Years later, his son, Jesús Oñate Jr., carried that legacy forward by creating O Restaurant Group.
Zapata finds its home
Nestled in the heart of downtown Norcross, Zapata is a proud continuation of that original family vision — and one of Georgia's oldest tequila bars. The exposed brick walls, calavera sculptures, and hand-painted murals tell the story before you even sit down.
